Wearable Art
During the last seven years of my high school teaching career, I had the privilege of guiding hundreds of students through the creative process of transforming recycled and unconventional materials into wearable fashion. Together, we’ve explored the potential of everyday items—like paper, plastic bags, bottle caps, and fast food trash—to create art that challenges traditional notions of fashion. This journey led to over 475 unique designs, each one a testament to our commitment to sustainability, creativity, and innovation in wearable art. By embracing the unexpected, my students learned not only the importance of environmental responsibility but also the limitless possibilities of artistic expression in fashion. We presented our designs to thousands of people throughout the upstate of South Carolina.
