Abstracts
My work explores the dialogue between spontaneity and structure, drawing viewers into a world of layered abstraction where each piece holds a unique interplay of geometric and organic forms. I’m fascinated by the way a single canvas can act as both a recording and revelation of layered histories, each mark a testament to a moment in time. Using a variety of mark-making tools, I create compositions that embody both the planned and the unpredictable, allowing intuition and experimentation to guide me as I work through each layer.
Color serves as both a tool and a muse in my process. Earlier layers, often obscured or partially revealed, hint at what once was, sparking a curiosity about the unseen steps that shape what is visible now. In this layering, traces of previous colors and forms emerge, giving each piece a sense of movement and evolution, as though the work itself is alive and constantly transforming. Geometric shapes anchor the pieces with a sense of order, while organic marks break through, adding rhythm and rawness that mirror the imperfections of nature and human experience.
Ultimately, my work invites viewers to look closer, to observe the nuanced interplay of colors, textures, and shapes, and to find their own story within each piece. Through abstraction, I aim to evoke the feeling of discovery—a chance for each viewer to encounter something new with every glance, even if it was always there, just beneath the surface.
